Abstract

|
Jookrhyuk (Bambusae caulis in Liqamen) is one of the most potent drugs for treatment of cardiovascular disease in oriental medicine. This study was conducted to confirm the Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) inhibitor effect on Bambusae caulis in Liqamen. The sample was prepared with bamboo from Danyang-gun. There were no ACE inhibitor effect by using both pure and the concentrated extracts from Bambusae caulis in Liqamen. It is known that Bambusae caulis in Liqamen holds the anti-hypertensive effect. This results would be required to confirm ACE inhibitor effect on different species of Bambusae caulis in Liqamen. Extraction method of Bambusae caulis in Liqamen is not standardized. Besides, different purification method produce the different components. Currently, further improvement on extraction of Bambusae caulis in Liqamen is underway.
